Staying safe
Most people on Sjuby are exactly who they say they are. A few habits keep the rare bad experience from happening to you.
Meeting and paying
- Meet in a public place, in daylight, and take someone with you for high-value items.
- Inspect before you pay. For cars, arrange a test drive and a mechanic's check.
- Never pay a deposit or transfer money before you have seen the item.
- Pay in person, or use a bank transfer you can trace. Avoid gift cards and crypto.
- For property, only pay a landlord or a licensed agent. Ask for the permit number shown on the ad and check it with the authority.
Messages and links
- Keep the conversation on Sjuby. It is how we can help if something goes wrong.
- Sjuby never asks for your password, a one-time code or your card details in a message. Anyone who does is not Sjuby.
- Be wary of anyone who pushes you to move to another app, pay a “shipping fee” or act fast.
- Do not open links to payment pages sent by a buyer or seller.
Selling
- Photograph the item yourself and describe faults honestly. Honest ads sell faster and avoid disputes.
- Meet buyers in a public place, or at home only with someone else present.
- Count cash before handing the item over; confirm a transfer has landed in your account first.
- Never share your Emirates ID, passport or bank card photos to “prove” anything.
If something goes wrong
- Report the ad with the link under “Staying safe” on the ad page. A moderator reviews every report.
- Block anyone who bothers you with the button in the conversation; neither of you can write to the other.
- If money was lost or you were threatened, contact the police (999) or Dubai Police's eCrime service, and message our support team with the ad reference.
